While the environment has recently become the focus of governments, corporations and individuals, Rotary has been very sensitive to Earth Day for some period of time. The Rotary Club of Mississauga has been planting trees and in 2021 we will be undertaking a project in Mississauga that will protect the environment and promote peace. Watch our website for more details as they become available.

Peace and Conflict Resolution

Conflict and violence displace millions of people each year.  half of those people that are killed in conflict are children, and 90 percent are of all people killed are civilians. We refuse to accept conflict as a way of life. Rotary projects provide training that fosters understanding and provides communities with the skills to resolve conflicts.

Basic Education and Literacy

More that 775 million people over the age of 15 are illiterate.  That's 17 percent of the world's adult population.  Our goal is to strengthen the capacity of communities to support basic education and literacy.  We support education for all children and literacy for everyone

Water and Sanitation

Clean water, sanitation, and hygiene education are basic necessities for a healthy environment and a productive life. When people have access to  clean water and sanitation waterborne diseases decrease, children stay healthier and attend school more regularly, and mothers can spend less time carrying water and more time helping their families.

Maternal and Child Health

Rotary makes high-quality health care available to vulnerable mothers and children so they can live longer and grow stronger.  We expand access to quality care, so mothers and children everywhere can have the same opportunities for a healthy future.  An estimated 5.9 million children under the age of five die each year all of which can be prevented.

Disease Prevention and Treatment

Our health is everything. Yet 400 million people in the world can't afford or don't have access to basic health care.  We believe good health care is everyone's right.  We design and build infrastructure that allows doctors, patients, and governments to work together.  Rotarians work together globally and locally to change people's lives.

Community development

Rotary members are passionate about providing sustainable solutions to poverty. Our members and our foundation work to strengthen local entrepreneurs and community leaders, particularly women, in impoverished communities.  We provide training and access to well-paying jobs and financial management institutions.
